"Three Important
Things"
I. Eternal Life In Christ
Jesus (The Most Important Thing We Can Posses)
The Truth
Romans 6:22, 23 But now, being
made free from sin, and having become slaves to God, you have your fruit to
holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but
the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The Promise
John 10:28, 29 John 10:28 And I
give to them eternal life, and they shall never ever perish, and not anyone
shall pluck them out of My hand. 29 My Father who gave them to me is greater
than all, and no one is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand.
The Life Priority
John 6:27 Do not labor for the
food that perishes, but for that food which endures to everlasting life, which
the Son of man will give you. For God the Father sealed Him.
1Tim. 6:18, 19 that they do good, that they be rich in good
works, ready to share, to be generous, 19 laying up in store for themselves a
good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal
life.
Jude 1:21 keep yourselves in the
love of God, eagerly awaiting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to everlasting
life.
II. To Know Christ and His
Love (The Most Important Thing We Can Know)
The Truth
Eph. 3:17,18,19 that Christ may
dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18
may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and
depth and height, 19 and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge,
that you might be filled with all the fullness of God.
Php 3:8 But no, rather, I also
count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus
my Lord, for whose sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them
to be dung, so that I may win Christ
Colossians 2:2, 3 that their hearts might be comforted, being
knit together in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of the
understanding, to the full knowledge of the mystery of God, and of the Father,
and of Christ; 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
The Promise
Eph. 1:3-6 3 Praise be to the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly
realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before
the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. 5 In love he[a] predestined us to be adopted as his sons
through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will- 6 to the praise
of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
Life Priority
Eph 3:14, 15, 16 For this cause
I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 of whom the whole
family in Heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to
the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the
inner man;
III. To Obey Him (The Most
Important Thing We Can Do)
The Truth
John 14:23 Jesus replied,
"If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him,
and we will come to him and make our home with him.
Romans 6:17 But thanks be to God
that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form
of teaching to which you were entrusted.
The Promise
Rom. 8:17 And if we are
children, then we are heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ; so that
if we suffer with Him, we may also be glorified together.
1 Cor. 2:9 But as it is written,
"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard," nor has it entered into the heart
of man, "the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
Life Priority
John 15:12 This is My
commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
Math. 25:34, 35, 36 Then the
King shall say to those on His right hand, Come, blessed of My Father, inherit
the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you
gave me food; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you
took Me in; 36 I was naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me;
I was in prison, and you came to Me.
