The mexican brothers are advancing the work at Sumidero. They have finished the tile on the dormitory room and all the plastering in the womens bathrooms.

The Word

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Author, C.J.  Mahaney tells us in his book "The Cross Centered Life"

"First importance.  The Bible tells us that, while there are many different callings and many different areas of  service in the kingdom of God, one transcendent truth should define our lives. One simple truth should motivate our work and impact each part of who we are.

Christ died for our sins.

If there is anything in this life that we should be passionate about, it should be the gospel.  And I do not mean only about sharing it with others.  We should be passionate in thinking about the gospel, meditating on it, being delighted in it, permitting it to transform the way we look at the world.  Only one thing should be of first importance to each one of us.  And only the gospel should be.”

John 4:8 For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.

9 Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, "How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water."

  • Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins which is eternal death and separation from God and man.
  • Jesus Christ has risen from dead to prove himself to be the Son of God and that to all those who believe in Him have hope that they to will rise and live with Him forever.
  • Jesus Christ ascended to heaven and prays for all of humanity that we would repent and believe on Him and love Him the way He loves us.
  • Jesus Christ promised and will return, at the end of time, for all of us who believe and trust Him.

We do not come from the goo! We did not just slime our way into exsistence!

We were created to live in harmony, peace and in love with one and other, and with our loving heavenly Father. That’s the hope, the destiny, the truth for all who believe.

December 2004

MERRY CHRISTMAS and a PROSEPEROUS NEW YEAR!

 BACK IN THE U.S.A.

We visited the USA this year in September and October.  It was a whirlwind tour, The Big Loop, starting in Texas and progressing to IN, WI, MN, NY, VA, NC, TN, FL, AL, MI, LO, TX and back to Mexico on November 2.  We apologize to all whom we did not get to visit, next year we will increase the length of our trip so as not to miss anyone.  We found ourselves on many days meeting people for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!  We now find ourselves exercising diligently to lose all the weight we gained.

We enjoyed seeing family and friends and visiting new churches and new people.  We also enjoyed seeing the group members who visited in 2004 in their home settings.  Jeff’s message, “The Pursuit of Righteousness: Violence vs. the Vote” was well received in this election year.  At our home church, Living Way Christian Fellowship, N.C. we had 3 other mission families present for one Sunday.  It was wonderful to reconnect with them if only for a day.

Our stay in Indiana was extended by one week as we searched for parts for the Trooper, which were finally located in Chicago.  Many thanks to John Jongkind who did numerous repairs on the Trooper, our all-purpose mountain vehicle.   Also to Pam Jordan who watched our home and Sherlock for the months we were away.  Gracias to everyone who blessed us and extended their hospitality to us – I could fill page after page if I began naming names!

We enjoyed a 3-day mini vacation in St. Augustine, FL at a B & B, thanks to Billy & Debbie Richards.  Walking the streets, visiting the attractions, and wandering through the shops was a great way to decompress after 2 months of constant activity!

We returned to a well-ordered home and one very excited dog who practically did cartwheels upon seeing us again!

GROUPS & PROJECTS 2005

The coming year is shaping up to a busy one as we plan to break group on 2 new churches in our area, Campo Grande, “The Good Shepherd”, and San Rafael Caleria, “Jerusalem”.  The church in Tenixtepec, “Light of the Way” should be finished by the end of 2004, with only painting and windows left to be completed.  We are nearing completion of 3 other churches in the state of Tabasco: “Getzemani” , “Sinai” and “Church of God’s Power”.   All these churches are built in partnership with a couple from Texas, David & Leslie Henry.

We expect more groups than ever this year, with many first-time youth groups coming to Mexico this Summer.  As Brother Kellum used to say, “We’ll treat them so many ways they’re bound to like some of them!”  We are looking forward to spreading the Gospel in more Veracruz pueblos than last year.

On January 17 – 18 the under construction “Earl Kellum Memorial  Conference Center and Bible Institute” in Sumidero hosted the Fraternidad Cristiana’s National Pastor’s Conference.  Vic Hildebrand, from Kempsville Presbyterian Church in VA join us January 11 – 20 to minister in a local pastor’s conference and various local churches.

Jeff will continue to teach the Basic Doctrine Course in Sumidero and develop future course teachers from those who are taking this course.
