JANUARY 2004 1. Greetings from sunny Cordoba. As most of you know, our beloved leader, Earl Kellum, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at 3:30 pm. Please click on the Photo button at www32.brinkster.com/hisharvest/harvestphotos to see photos and his eulogy.
CONVENTION & BIBLE SCHOOL UPDATE
Wisconsin Group
We received a group from Living Hope Church in Ridgeland, WI from January 9 - 16 this year. This dynamic team accomplished much in the short time they were here. We went to Tenixtepec on Sunday, Jan. 11 to pour a floor in a mission church. The group also supplied funds for electrical work that was done. Afterwards we enjoyed a great meal of fried chicken. For the next three days the team worked in Sumidero and poured a sidewalk measuring 150 ft. long by 6 ft. wide. They also excavated land to prepare a place for the buses to park during the annual convention. A side trip was made to Orizaba in quest of the thickest blankets that could be bought, then a free day in Vera Cruz where everyone got their fill of shopping for souvenir to take home.
PASTOR’S MEETINGS
Jeff has recently begun holding meetings designed to train and strengthen pastors and leaders. As of this date the zone had been divided in to three groups. Jeff, along with the superintendent of the zone, meets with each group on a monthly basis. The meetings are designed to develop the local churches to become healthy and strong, full of the power of the Holy Spirit and the glory of God. This is accomplished through five areas:
1) teachings on the Word of God;
2) provision of a course study, "Foundations of the Faith";
3) through providing an opportunity of fellowship, prayer, and care;
4) providing discipleship training, development and training of new leaders for the future;
5) encouraging the local church to evangelize.
FAMILY UPDATES
We are happy to report that Terri’s mom, Mary Browning, 68, is doing very well. She is now driving, walking, and shopping. Her current goal is to walk for 30 minutes a day. Please continue to pray for her as she has recently undergone a series of tests to determine if there is a blockage of blood flow to one of her kidneys, which may result in another surgery.
Jeff’s mom, Betty Dietrick, 82, has recently learned that she has breast cancer. Doctors are doing further testing to see what her options will be. Please keep her in your prayers also.
Jeff and I are doing well. I (Terri) am meeting with our neighbor, Rosalia Lau, to pray and we are doing a study of Dutch Sheet’s Intercessory Prayer. Sherlock continues to both terrorize and fascinate the Mexican population.
PRAYER REQUESTS
1) for Earl Kellum’s family
2) for Terri’s continued health and strength
3) for our mothers, Mary Browning and Betty Dietrick
4) The Pastor’s Meeting - that the pastors would catch a vision for the importance of this meeting; that the Holy Spirit would touch their hearts and give them a desire for God’s Word; that God would use the meeting to raise up new leaders in the churches; that the pastors would be diligent to complete the "Foundations of the Faith" course.
5) that Jeff would have unity to flow with the superintendent of the churches here; wisdom and strength that he will need now that he will be the primary person in charge of all groups coming to the Sumidero area and the construction of the Megaproject Bible and Conference Center.
