The Word

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Author, C.J.  Mahaney tells us in his book "The Cross Centered Life"

"First importance.  The Bible tells us that, while there are many different callings and many different areas of  service in the kingdom of God, one transcendent truth should define our lives. One simple truth should motivate our work and impact each part of who we are.

Christ died for our sins.

If there is anything in this life that we should be passionate about, it should be the gospel.  And I do not mean only about sharing it with others.  We should be passionate in thinking about the gospel, meditating on it, being delighted in it, permitting it to transform the way we look at the world.  Only one thing should be of first importance to each one of us.  And only the gospel should be.”

John 4:8 For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.

9 Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, "How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water."

  • Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins which is eternal death and separation from God and man.
  • Jesus Christ has risen from dead to prove himself to be the Son of God and that to all those who believe in Him have hope that they to will rise and live with Him forever.
  • Jesus Christ ascended to heaven and prays for all of humanity that we would repent and believe on Him and love Him the way He loves us.
  • Jesus Christ promised and will return, at the end of time, for all of us who believe and trust Him.

We do not come from the goo! We did not just slime our way into exsistence!

We were created to live in harmony, peace and in love with one and other, and with our loving heavenly Father. That’s the hope, the destiny, the truth for all who believe.

Is There Absolute Truth?

In todays western culture there is a leaning toward a more eastern mind set, or way of thinking. Basicly this mind set declares; "there is no absolute truth", there is no absolute way or path in life to guide us. It proclaims there are many truths and many paths and that it is up to the individual to discover their own truths and paths through this life.

Jesus Christ confronts this disceptive mind set with a very bold and radical statement found in the New Testament, the gosple of John chapter 14, verse 6.

Jesus said to him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me.

It is important to understand the context of this statement. Jesus  would soon be arrested, beaten and imprisoned, and finally crucified. He was trying to install confidence in the hearts of those who had followed him. He encouraged them that because they had trusted completly in him that they would see heaven.

Lets take a closer look at this statement, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life". It is important to note that Jesus did not say, I am one of many ways and my truth is one of many truths or that his life was simply another life example.

"I am the Way" Christ declares here that he is the only way. The only way to fulfillment; the only way to real joy; the only way to true love and acceptance; the only way to abundant living; the only way to see heaven and the only way to eternal life with him.

"I am the Truth" Christ declares here that he is absolute truth. There is no falsehood in him, he cannot lie. That there is no other truth than that which has been revealed through his life, his action, and his words. That he is to be completly trusted and humanity can depend on his absolute truth and honesty. That he will complete every word spoken and every promise made.

"I am the Life" Christ declares here; 1. All life was created through and by him. All life started with Christ! 2. Life is maintained and sustained by Christ. 3. All those who truly believe on Christ are truely alive, in this life, and in the life to come. In other words the fullness of living, the joy of life, the adundant, eternal security only comes when Christ lives in the heart.

Christ is the only religious figure in history to make this bold and provacitive claim. He is the only one who has the right to make it because Christ was God come to earth as a man. He walked as a man and identified with the sufferings of humanity. No other religious leader in history has made this claim or has the right to. Not Buddha, Mohamad, Krishna, Gandhi, or any other has made such claims!

Why?

Because they knew they were not God. They were not absolutely convinced that their ideas, thoughts and concepts were the truth. They were acutely aware of their own human frailty. They were not confident concerning eternal life. They all died and are still in the grave. Besides these and many other reasons there exsists one basic fundimental truth concerning the life of Christ. His words were always backed up with actions.

Christ healed the sick, cast out demons, ministered to the poor with food and words of comfort, he raised the dead, he spent time with the broken hearted and forgave them of their sins, he rescued the accused, he loved children, he never sinned, he gave his own life as payment for all the sins of humanity. Finally, Christ rose from the grave, confirming his word is true. "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life".

John chapter 10, verse 9 - I am the door. If anyone enters in by Me, he shall be saved and shall go in and out and find pasture.
John chapter 11, verse 25 - Jesus said to her, I am the Resurrection and the Life! He who believes in Me, though he die, yet he shall live.

You see friend, Christ did not ask us to blindly believe or accept his words at face value. He proved who he was and is, with evidences, witnessed by believes, and unbelievers alike and recorded in history. Christ continues to prove who he is to this very day, healing the sick and delivering the broken hearted, entering into the hearts of men, women, children, changing lives and giving hope and security.

John chapter 3, verses 16,17,18 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes on Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.

Christ loves you and all of his creation, and came to fix this mess mankind has made one person at time.He wants you to believe him and accept him as Lord. He desires to come dwell in your heart be your friend, your lover, your confidant, your healer, your judge, your Lord and your Savior.

Would you pray this prayer to recieve Him?

Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Way, the truth, and the Life, forgive me for my disbelief, my failures, my sins. Please come and live in my heart and be my Lord. Help me Lord to follow you, to hear your vioce, and to know you more and more each day. Thankyou for paying for my sins with your life and Saving me. Amen.
